CHE Women’s Sewing Project in Guatemala

In 2011 Global CHE Enterprises and Mission Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona began a partnership focusing on the villages of Chicoz and Chirammos in the mountains of Western Guatemala. Though only about 18 months long, the partnership has been a blessing to GCE, the people of Chicoz and Chirammos and Mission Community Church.

One of the foci of the partnership has been women.  As a result, the Women’s Ministry at Mission has sent two teams to Chicoz and Chirammos to build relationships with the women of these two villages, learn from each other and encourage each other.  One of the results of this growing friendship between the women of Mission and the CHE women has been a sewing project in Chirammos.

The women of Chirammos shared their desire to support their families through small businesses ventures.  Sewing clothing was something they had the skills for – but they lacked the capital to purchase high quality machines.  This is where the women at Mission came in.  They were able to raise enough money to purchase some machines for the women in Chirammos – and soon the sewing machines were being used and God has blessed.  Additional sewing machines are now on their way, and we are looking forward to seeing this project grow and expand.
