GCE Transition 2018 to 2019

A Pharmacist Testimony:

“Our Guatemala STM was a testimony to God’s providence, sovereignty, and timing in all things. I admit that I had trepidation prior to the trip. While not anxious about the work involved, traveling, or language barriers; I was fretful about the inability to truthfully impact the lives of the local community in such a short amount of time and with such limited resources. But, from the moment that we stepped foot onto Guatemalan soil, the Holy Spirit was ministering to my wandering heart; my heart which was too small and lacking in faith to believe God’s greater plan. It seemed like throughout the week, whenever I lacked faith, joy, or humility, God used his Word, his people, and his creation to whisper just the right message that I needed to hear”

One example that comes to mind. Before the first day of clinic, right when I’m questioning the ability of STM medical teams to have a lasting impact on the local community. The local leaders started the day with prayer and scripture reading. There was a moment when everyone from the local community was praying out loud in unison. It was in a language that I could not understand. But, it gave me a glimpse of what Heaven would be like. God used that moment to assure me that His hands will be upon this clinic and I don’t need to fully understand or comprehend the plan. I simply needed to be present and trust that the Lord will use me in His plan (Simon Lam came in November 2018 with Short Term Medical-Dental Team from our partner Bay Presbyterian Church, Bay Village, Ohio).

The Jesus Film Project donated 9 backpacks equipment to our 9 CHE Teams in all of the 8 countries in our Region Mesoamerica for a new Saturation Wave like we held in 1990 through 1991 among the Mam people. We are grateful to the Lord for David Briggs Global Partnerships Coordinator who was instrumental in the process.

Then Deer Creek Church and Littleton Bible Chapel from Colorado were also instruments in bringing the 9 kits to us last November. These Short Term Teams not only worked with Water Projects, CHE Women and CHE with Children but they did the breaking of the new equipment showing the Jesus Film at the Mam CHE villages of El Paraiso and Las Barrancas in their mother language. Those first two presentations bear as fruit 14 adults at the village of El Paraiso and 14 children in Las Barrancas coming to faith in Jesus! Praise God with us!

Expansion continues! 17 churches were represented and participated through their pastors at the CHE Vision Seminar in the City Hall of Chapeltique, San Miguel, El Salvador last December.

Pray with us about them taking action to go onto Training of Trainers 1 Workshop in God`s timing for their interest in wholistic ministry/missions.

Last January 25 through 27 our Global CHE Enterprises GCE Board of Directors held our Annual Business meeting in Phoenix AZ. Among the main items discussed was the need to enrich the Board with new members and the challenge to our faith on how to meet the 2019 needed budget.

The Mesoamerica Annual report submitted also included the joy to hear of 469 documented professions of faith in Christ through the CHE volunteers home visits in the CHE Villages. 1 church planted in El Salvador, 48 communities currently in the CHE training process. 8,993 households directly involved for a total of 47,923 people among all villages. Praise God with us for this fruit brought at His feet!

The last house built at El Limonal in Chinandega Nicaragua is just about to be inaugurated and dedicated. 20 homes project in our Partnership 1Mission/GCE is been the seed project which has helped this community to experiment and to prove transformation is possible in the Abundant Life in Jesus Christ. (Please expect a soon to come specific testimony on El Limonal)

Now our Area Coordinator Roger Pavon is moving the CHE Housing Project to the very needed Island of Ometepe to begin the month of March.

Before Community Health Evangelism CHE training at the Village of Arenales on the Cuchumatanes Range of Mountains the public school kitchen looked like this:

….But last December it was radically transformed into this:

…thanks to the partnership of Focused Living Ministries from Camden S.C. /local community/GCE.

Right after the Board meeting Hugo Jr and Sr. flew to Denver and drove to Wheatland Wyoming using our Board Chairman Mike Douglas`s truck to visit Christa my daughter. She is about to complete her 2 year deployment and contract as a RN there.  Christa & Jordan (boy friend) treated us with a surprise to Jackson Hole!

Standing at the summit of a snowed covered peak was a childhood dream for Hugo Sr. It came true at the North Peak with the Jackson Hole Mountain resort above 10,000 feet high, -22 Celsius degrees!

This trip to Colorado and Wyoming was an opportunity to visit Dr. Jack & Carol Rhyan in Forth Collins who have been STM to Guatemala. We also visited Pastor Darren & Amy Adwalpalker in Casper where he is the Go Pastor at Highland Park Community Church!. Darren did a six months internship from Wheaton College with us in Guatemala in the year 1999.

More prayer needed. Just last week of February work at the CHE Center resumed. The Leveling of the the ground to begin building the Multipurpose Hall is done and the process can not stop until before the rain season. Two partners are mainly involved with us Pure Heart Church, Peoria AZ and Bay Pres, Bay Village Ohio but we will be needing all of your prayers and investments until completion.

Thanks to each one of you our partners in prayer and resources. We praise Our Lord for we can count on each and all of you!

On behalf of our Board of Directors, all of our co-laborers in the field, and the Gomez Family,

Hugo & Miriam.
