I was wondering which comes first, Collaboration towards Unity or Unity towards Collaboration?
We can easily go to an Etymology Dictionary, as I did, and find a summary of collaboration, “working together for a purpose.”
In the secular world, collaboration is first, then perhaps, you achieve unity. But in the Kingdom of God, we learn from the Word of God that unity must happen first, then collaboration results in “one accord”.
Jesus prayed to His Father that His followers could “be One” as the Triune God for the world to believe that the Father sent the Son. Yes, unity, in the Spirit of God.
“Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” Matthew 12:30, NIV
We better collaborate in gathering the harvest Jesus says.
We have learned from our Global Coordinator, Terry Dalrymple, that in CHE Movement, in Community Development and Transformation “Lack of collaboration is nothing less than arrogance”.
We need to be in unity at all levels: the villagers level, the CHE Committee level, the Training teams level, inside GCN member organizations level, the Network Level; yes, at all levels to accomplish His Great Commission and Great Commandment.
Paul, the Apostle, said:
“For we are laborers together with God”1 Cor. 3:9
