GCE Mesoamerica Update December 2012

One month after Earthquake at Las Barrancas and Las Granadillas!

In God´s Grace and Provision through many of you who pray and give and share with others it has become possible that  the people of villages around and other organizations and the government  witness that the Mam CHE Teams of Trainers Pio and Santiago have mobilized the Committee and the CHEs –Community Health Evangelists– with all the villagers working.

You have helped them by providing most of the materials so they have been empowered to do the technical work plus the labor themselves!…..yes….through CHE.

The water systems had collapsed due to the landslides on their very steep slopes and vertical grounds. They have no options but to run the new waterlines from the springs uphill down by gravity to their cistern and to the road first in order to avoid the long walk hauling water back uphill on their heads as usual in most Guatemalan rural villages even today!…..

..and then the distribution lines to the village and homes…….

Due to you, they are now blessed (since one to 2 weeks after quake hit) to open their faucets and the vital water flows back normally again! Praises to The Water of Life…Jesus!

But CHE is not relief!…..Surely not! CHE is Development and Transformation. One of the CHE Core Values is “Development over Relief” but in this special case the 86 families directly affected by loosing their homes were able to receive a month’s supply of the High Protein Milk Substitute made in Guatemala which CHE teaches to use ongoingly  included in the 3×3 nutrition “3 food groups 3 times a day”.

…..tracts and coloring books with encouraging message could not be missing in the bags to distribute……

The Women’s STM team from Mission Community Church Mesa Arizona, were here
working with Quiche villages but also spared time and extra effort to join the Mam team to sort, pack and deliver the bags to the villagers. Praise the Lord with us!.

….almost 2 tons of protein required more than one pick up loads to accomplish the destination = people in need.

……God was praised!….Jesus was exalted and people prayed for, encouraged and
ministered to!…..all in His Name!.

Now….reconstruction is the villagers challenge, our call… to help in any possible way.
Keep praying for multiplication of local and outside resources.

Multiplication of bread….Today?…yes, during the teaching/learning experience among the Quiche CHE women at the village of Chirramos, how to bake cinnamon rolls was included. About 50 people were able to enjoy tasting the 2 small trays of rolls.

then learning how to do local aprons style and sharing how to make corn husks dolls
always with spiritual analogy….

…and during the farewell service at the CHE planted church, five new converts and their families were presented ……Aleluia!.

More updates soon…before Christmas!
